Gingerbread How To's and Ideas!

Gingerbread Man Song
Tune: "The Muffin Man"

Oh, do you know the Gingerbread Man,
The Gingerbread Man,
The Gingerbread Man?
Oh, do you know the Gingerbread Man,
Who ran and ran and ran?

He said, "Catch me if you can,
If you can,
if you can."
He said, "Catch me if you can,"
Then ran and ran and ran.

I can run like the Gingerbread Man.
The Gingerbread Man,
The Gingerbread Man.
I can run like the Gingerbread Man,
Now catch me if you can!!

Turkey Hands
Here's a place card that's edible and fun to make. If you don't have a hand-shaped cookie cutter, make a pattern by tracing around your child's hand on cardboard, then cutting out. Lay the pattern on the dough and cut around the shape with a knife.

Pat and Betty
Reynolds Kitchens Home Economists

Reynolds Color Plastic Wrap, Rose and Green
Reynolds Parchment Paper
3/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon each ground cinnamon,
ground cloves and salt
Decorating icing

BEAT butter and sugar in large bowl on medium speed until creamy. Add egg; continue beating until well blended. Mix in molasses and vanilla; set aside.

MIX flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt in large bowl. Beat flour mixture gradually into sugar mixture on low speed until well blended and a soft crumbly dough forms. Divide dough until into three balls. Wrap each ball in Reynolds Plastic Wrap; refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours.

TO BAKE, preheat oven to 350°F. Roll chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness between two lightly floured sheets of Reynolds Parchment Paper. Cut dough with 4- or 5-inch cookie cutters; place 1 inch apart on parchment-lined cookie sheet.

BAKE 10 to 11 minutes until edges are barely browned. Let stand one minute; transfer to cooling rack. Cool completely. Decorate as desired with icing. Let set until icing dries.

WRAP each cookie in rose or green plastic wrap; twist at top of cookie and tie with ribbon. Fluff ends of plastic wrap; trim with scissors.

60 Dozen Cookies in an Hour!
by Denise Henderson

"MOM OH MOM! I forgot to tell you that I'm supposed to take cookies to the scout meeting tonight!"

"MOM! I signed you up to bring cookies to the Christmas party today!"

"Maggie, I want to invite you to a cookie swap Friday night.

I know that it's so busy this time of year, but it's a lot of fun. Bring 6 dozen of your favorite cookies."

Sound familiar? The end result here is yet another package of Oreos, cold and hard from the grocery store. The truth to tell is that even when it's not a case of short notice, life is so busy that it can be a real pain to be a cookie-baking momma!
